Year 1

Introduction to the Hospitality and the Tourism Industry

This module will equip you with a basic understanding that will help you relate to hotel operations.  You will also earn a microcredential from Yonsei University.

Introduction to Event Management

This module is designed to introduce you to the event industry, especially tourism-related events and the processess of planning for such events. You will explore the nature and scope of events and the event experience alongside the examination of event tourism typologies. This course will enable you to gain an appreciation of the political, economic, and environmental costs and benefits of local, national, and international events. You will also earn a microcredential from Google.

Culture Tourism, Festivals and Events

This module examines the relationship between tourism and culture. It is because culture, traditions, customs, and religions are related closely to events. Emphasis is also placed upon cultural tourism in different spatial and social contexts.  

Event Marketing

This module introduces you to the underlying principles of marketing and its planning processes. It will also cover various marketing mix and promotional tools useful in the event industry.  You will also earn a microcredential from Illinois University.

The Travel, Tourism Industry and Travel Professionals

This module briefs you on the travel and tourism industry, tourism professionals, tourism components, employment opportunities, organisations and associations related to the industry. You will be taught about the processes involved for domestic and international ticketing and travel documents. You will also earn a microcredential from John Hopkins University.

Preparatory English

The components of this course include Grammar, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The reading component develops and improves students' basic reading skills. The writing component will prepare you to write error-free sentences and logic, and cohesive essays with grammatical accuracy. The speaking component trains you to plan, organise and give brief oral presentation. You will also earn a microcredential from Rice University.

Introduction to Management

You will be exposed to principles of management. After completing this module, you will be able to understand and define the management perspectives in relation to planning, organising, motivation, leading, control, communication, and quality. You will also earn a microcredential from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers.

Principle of Customer Service

Customer service is a critical area in many enterprises as it can make or break day-to-day business transactions. Good customer service will always be in demand and is necessary for businesses across all industries especially in the hospitality industry, and this module tackles the principles of customer service. You will also earn a microcredential from the Knowledge Accelerators.

Principles of Hospitality Accounting

This module develops a general understanding of financial procedures, journalising, and adjustment of financial data. Accounting procedures for cash, receivables, inventories and depreciation for plant and equipment are also emphasised. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of Virginia.

Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions (M.I.C.E)

The Meetings, Incentive travels, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry plays a vital role in tourism and economic development. This module will provide you a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the international conference industry, examines the industry's origins, structure, economics, career opportunities, and future development. You will also explore the industry's links with the wider tourism industry. You will also earn a microcredential from Macquarie University.

Wedding Planning

This module is designed to provide you with the information on event specifically in wedding design and production. It explores topics such as definitions, theme planning and selection, venue selection and layout, staffing, decorative elements, logistics, food and beverage, entertainment, and protocol guides. 

Computer Application

The topics to be covered in this module are Windows Operating Environment and basic Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word (word processor), MS Excel (spreadsheet) and MS PowerPoint (presentation). 

Mainstream English 1

Through this course, you will improve your writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Year 2

Event Support Services

A banquet event requires a strong support team to operate and ensure everything is put in place. By studying this module, you are introduced to the basics of banqueting operations. Equipped with this knowledge and skill, you should be able to run a banquet in an event setting. 

Event Risk Management

Successful event management requires good planning and thorough risk assessment. This course discusses various aspects of event planning including its processes and requirements. In addition to that, you will also be exposed to the importance of risk management and how to make a professional assessment of risk in event planning and execution. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of Maryland.

Event Design and Production

This module is designed to provide you with the information on event design and production. The module explores topics such as definitions, theme planning and selection, venue selection and layout, staffing, decorative elements, logistics, food and beverage, entertainment, and protocol guides. 

Industrial Training

The industrial training will cover mostly hands-on practical elements, which will be supervised by a supervisor from an event-related organisation. You will undergo practical training in various departments including Sales and Marketing, Event Production, Public Relations, Banquet, and other suitable functions. 

Business Ethics

This module helps you develop critical thinking skills and apply these to some of the issues you will face in business. You will successfully complete this module when you are able to apply ethical theories to real business situations, analyses what ethical positions affect decisions and business actions, and evaluate moral issues in business.  You will also earn a microcredential from Illnois University.

Event Sponsorship and Fundraising

This module focuses on the fundraising and sponsorship processes in event organisation. It also emphasises on the ability to ensure the process of seeking funds and sponsorship is cohesive and well-planned. The purpose of this module is not only to guarantee the ability of event organisation or clubs to source sponsorship deals, but to ensure that any approach conducted are in a professional manner, and reflects corporate goodwill and individual organisation needs. You will also earn a microcredential from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.

Event Project Management

This module introduces  project management application in events. It aims to provide you with knowledge concerning the concepts, theories, principles, and issues related to managing event as a project. You will be exposed to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) domains which include scope management, integration management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resources management, communication management, risk management and procurement management. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of California.

Business Communication

This module introduces you to various aspects of business communication and helps you acquire the skills of good business communications as demanded by employers. This course stresses on correct language and appropriate business attitude in speaking and writing. As a whole it presents a picture of communication in the business world. You will also earn a microcredential from Macquarie University.

Mainstream English 2

The components of this course include comprehension and oral skills. You will hone and improve your interpersonal communication skills to be able to converse fluently in English.

Year 3

Public Relations in Events

Public relation is an important tool in event management. It helps the organiser to communicate with the public about the event in developing positive image and supports. This module will also focus on the professionalism of public relation according to the established ethics, code of practices and relevant laws. You will also earn a microcredential in University of Colorado-Boulder.

Customer Relationship Management

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) introduces you to the benefits of creating customer loyalty, developing a market intelligence and pro-active enterprise, and incorporating customer relationship management into organisation. It includes CRM methodologies; strategies, software and web-based capabilities that help an enterprise organise marketing, sales, services and managing customer relationships. You will also earn a microcredential from Salesforce.

MPU Modules

Philosophy & Contemporary Issues

This course covers the relationship of philosophy with the Philosophy of National Education and the National Pillars. Major topics in philosophy namely epistemology, metaphysics and ethics are discussed in the context of current issues, and emphasis is given to philosophy as a basis for inter-cultural dialogue and fostering common values.

Penghayatan Etika & Peradaban

This course is about ethical concepts from different civilisation perspectives. It aims to identify the systems, stages of development, advancement and nation culture in strengthening social unity. Students will be able to relate ethics and civic-minded citizenship.

People Skills

This module focuses on honing your interpersonal communication, which is critical to your success in personal and work relationships. This includes social skills and emotional intelligence, effective interpersonal communication beginning with self-awareness and the development of emotional maturity necessary to remain calm and empathetic in routine as well as in difficult communication situations.

Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1

International students are taught the basics of the Malay language to help in their daily communication. They will also learn to read, write, and understand simple sentences and paragraphs in Malay.

Bahasa Kebangsaan A

This module helps you grasp the national language to effectively communicate, and express thoughts clearly and creatively through verbal and written communication.

Community Service Project

You will learn how to perform a community needs assessment, select a project, solidify financial and logistical plans, map the project, and detail the project plan so that you can implement a high-impact, well-managed community service initiative.
